What We Do

The mission of the Allen County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is to complement existing health care capabilities by collaborating with local response partners to provide an organized system of trained volunteers who would be activated in times of community need.

 The MRC is activated by the Allen County Public Health Disaster Response Team and the MRC Executive Council when local healthcare systems become overwhelmed from natural and man-made disasters. MRC volunteers always work within and are supervised by local healthcare service organizations such as the Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health, Parkview Health, or Lutheran Health Network.

Expectations of Volunteers

1. Completion of application with copies of medical licenses and certifications.
2. A background check and verification of medical license (if applicable) will be completed for all volunteers.
3. Training requirement: NIMS IS-100HC and IS-700 (online & classroom opportunities)
4. Attend additional preparedness trainings and drills, as able.
5. Notify coordinator of changes to personal contact information and medical licenses/certifications as soon as possible. (Please provide photocopies of licenses and certifications.)
